It's been quite a while since I last posted on Thankful Thursday. Today I am Thankful for my Mother's Friends. Even though my Mom passed away almost 9 years ago, we girls have kept in touch with Mom's friends. And they have been faithful to us also...they share memories of Mom and always let us know that Mom loved us....these friends are PRICELESS!!!
Today's card is for one of Mom's friends who is in the hospital after surgery...
This card is a CASE from Lyssa Griffin Zwolanek here. For this CASE, I took the sample and then applied the supplies that I actually have. I used the Scallop Trim Border instead of the Lace Tape from the Spring Catalog. I also swapped out the sentiment and used Whimsical Words as it better suited the need for the card. The rest is the same....
I used Bloomin' Marvelous from this year's Sale-A-Bration catalog....FREE with a $50 order! Score!!! I love free stuff! I also used the new ribbon, 3/8" Striped Organdy Ribbon from the Spring Catalog! LOVE IT....
I pray that Mom's friend receives all the love I put into making this card and all the love I'm sending.
Many Blessings....Cathy

Thoughts of You....
After a major holiday, I sometimes have problem trying to figure out what to do next...anyone else have that problem? Well, if you do, try this. I take this time to put together general use cards....Thinking of You, Get Well, Sympathy, etc.
Sometimes I create, other times I CASE (Copy And Steal Everything) and sometimes I pull a sample from my stash and recreate.
Today's card is one from my stash.
For this card, I took an 8.5 x 5.5" Basic Black card stock and scored it at 4.25". I then took Whisper White cut to 8.5 x 5.25". To get the edge I take the Black cardstock and cut the edge using the Adorning Accents Edgelit. Then I take the Whisper White and cut the same edge and use the Adorning Accents Embossing Folder which matches and emboss the edge.
Then I measure the black cardstock from the edge to the score line. When I have this measurement, I then subtract a 1/4" and cut the white. The remainder of the white I place inside the card, matching the lines of the white on the top flap. That way you get the black, white, black, white layered look.
I then can place any image on the front. I utilized the flower from the Bordering on Romance and the sentiment from Word Play. I love both sets and they are some of my Go-To products. I colored the flowers with a Blender Pen and my stamp ink. When the Blender Pen is freshly loaded, I do the edges because there is a greater magnitude of ink....then I blend towards the center.
If you'll notice, the embossed edge isn't straight.....ooops.... No problems, I use these type of cards as my samples. I put the instructions to include the sizes, instructions and colors on the back. That way when I need a card quick, I don't have to refigure or create - I just go to my samples and make a quick card!
Hope you enjoy this card and my quick tip....comments are welcome!!!

Just for You....
After Christmas, it's hard to get in the swing of what to create....so that's when I just play around. Sometimes I just put things together....other times I CASE (Copy And Steal Everything)...and other times I bring out my oldie goldies.
I saw this card and had to recreate it. I used Crumb Cake as my base, a sliver of Whisper White and flower punches. To finish it of, I added Pearls to the flower centers and the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes punched out with Word Window and layered on the Modern Label punch.
Many Blessings....

A Little Cheer for your New Year!
We celebrated a quiet New Years, tired from traveling to see the Grandbabies and getting home on New Year's Eve. It was a great time and I miss being near them.
I made this card to celebrate not only the new year but also the birth of a new grandchild! I followed Connie Stewart's Flash Card. What a great idea to keep things quick and simple to accomplish.
I took each part the Flash Card and cut it in thirds. I then used the stamp set Happy Hour and a multitude of colors. After stamping, I took Crystal Effects and made the "liquid" part of the drink shine. I also highlighted the fruit slices on the bottom. Simple stamping with sentiments in StazOn Black and it was done! Quick, simple and just an all-around happy card!
Check back tomorrow for another quick and easy card....

Merry Christmas...Happy New Year....a Little Late...
Whew...the last two weeks have gone by in a blur of activity! Getting ready for Christmas, mailing packages, baking cookies, and last minute shopping filled my days. Simultaneously, we were preparing for the birth of our second grandchild and our trip to Texas. We desperately hoped that she would be born either before we arrived or while we were there...
Well - we were blessed with Aeryn Grace on Christmas Eve! She was safely delivered after less than 3 hours of labor. As we celebrated her birth, we attending Christmas Eve services where we celebrated the birth of the Christ Child, Jesus!
We celebrated Christmas with our daughter and then left for Texas bright and early the day after. We arrived to snow, ice and freezing temperatures....already missing the warmth of Florida....
We stayed 6 days....loved on the granddaughter...played with her big brother....and enjoyed the kids! On the day we left, there was more snow and ice.... but we made it home safely.
The remainder of our time off has been spent on home repair projects....Christmas cleaning...and football. The coat closet is now cleaned and organized. The laundry room is also cleaned and organized. The rotting door frame is repaired. The craft room is almost clean.
I did have a little time on Sunday to work on some cards. I'm planning on a Stamp-A-Stack for birthday cards and needed to make my samples! It was so fun to spend time doing fun stuff - not cleaning nor repairing!!!!
I plan on adding photos but am unable right now....not sure what's up but I'll keep trying. Until then...
